It's ELECTION time - no, not THOSE elections - this is a FUN one!! You know those plain white baker's boxes in the Holiday Catalog - well - here are some ideas that you can do with them (created by girls on our team!) Vote in the comments below for which is your favorite! And maybe order some yourself and see how CREATIVE you can be!
Since my hiatus from the blog is probably a bit noticeable, I wanted to give you an update on what's going on in the WonderBasement:
My mom came up the end of March and had a knee replacement, here in Indianapolis. So she came up, had surgery and stayed with me for about 6 weeks, through the worst and first stages of recovery. She is doing great, almost 5 months later, she is pretty much back to her normal activities at home in Boonville.
In mid-April, I decided that the WonderBasement needed a redo. It was a thought that had been brewing since January when I found THREE hutches I couldn't live without. They were from a nursery up in Noblesville, and the hutches had been used for their Christmas displays. They were changing up their decor. SO, I brought them home and put them in the basement, to let the ideas percolate in my brain, as to what I wanted to do with the hutches and the WonderBasment. Below, you can see hutch 1, 2, and 3. Little did I know this would begin an obsession with Early American hutches!
Suddenly it hit me! I love Joanna Gaines and her awesome country-farm house style. It's comfortable, yet fresh, and I was ALL in! And the hutches fit perfectly into the farmhouse theme. And honestly, I don't do carbon copy stuff, but it was a launching point. My style has a little more bling and whimsy than Joanna, but the color base was all hers....specifically, Magnolia paint by KILZ. It's a beautiful line of paint that has the most soft, creamy colors you've ever laid eyes on! **swoon** and **heart eyes***
I was going to paint all of the hutches with Magnolia chalk paint, but before I did the hutches, I needed to really give the walls in the WonderBasment a facelift. SO, Goodbye, orange, & blue, you've served me well. I also wanted to break up the space a little more efficiently. Move my beads, sewing, and paper crafting all into their appointed places. Also, I wanted to add studio space to record FB lives and build my e-commerce business. (more on that in a later update)
So with the dedicated help of Jeff, Joey and Patrick, we set up to change the space. Literally, we worked June, July and most of August to get things back to being usable!
Tomorrow, I'm going to show you the fireplace remodel! One thing just kept leading to another, but I'm telling you, it was the best. thing. EVER!
I had the privilege to be a Display Stamper for Stampin' Up! Atlanta On-stage this past April. It was SO. MUCH. FUN! Loved having my own sneak peek in February. It was like the Food Network TV show, Chopped! only with stamp supplies. I had a plain cardboard box filled with goodies that are in the New 2018 Annual Catalog. Not knowing what the items went with or seeing any of the paper, I was charged with the task of completing 15-20 projects to showcase at On-Stage. I could use any of the current items in the 2017 Catalog or the Occasions Mini Catalog.
Daunting, but SO worth the effort. Once my creative juices started flowing, I was able to knock out several cool projects and lots of material to share with you! I hope you enjoy learning along with me as I take you on the journey of creating.
The first thing I'd like to share is the Note Card set that made using a bundle that was featured in the Occasions Mini Catalog, called the Sure do Love You Bundle. (SO if you want the framelit I used, GO HERE! It is NOT being carried over to the new catalog. Which is kind of a bummer, because it's easy and fun to use.
There are several new items here: The stamp set is Detailed with Love, New Lemon-lime twist 3/8" mini ruffled ribbon, and The silver & pool party baker's twine. I'm going to show you how to make the tassel. It was easy and SO cool! It would be a great thing to add to your planner, or favorite book mark. I LOVE tassels and they are everywhere in jewelry, and papercrafts.
I hope the photos are self explanatory. I have more projects to show you this coming week, so stay tuned! If you have questions, leave a comment, or catch me over on the Wonderbasement Facebook page.
On the same day
Two other rainbows came my way!
I will enjoy my rainbow week! Isn't this the most adorable lunch bag?! From Betsey Johnson, I found it at TJ Maxx. Happy, happy, happy!
Does anyone else feel like the weather is crazy this Winter/Spring?? Talk about long birthing pains of Spring! It's middle of April and I feel like it's the end of February! I am under a fleece blanket and sweatshirt.
This stamp set and framelits bundle is so happy and positive. It was fun layering all the elements and combining the cute cloud cutouts with the cloud stamps. The rainbow stamp was also fun to use. You can use it in the traditional Rainbow spectrum of colors or change it up a little differently using analogous colors. In pinks, or blues for a baby card & gift, or black and grays for a sophisticated feel. How fun to think outside of the box! Stampin'Up! also has some super cute embellishments that make the raindrops 3-dimensional: Glitter and Clear epoxy shapes. The sunshine is a framelit shape and I used the dazzling diamonds glitter paper and sponged on daffodil delight ink for the glittery sunshine.
A great sentiment too, "you can't have a rainbow, without a little rain". Will be a sweet get well, encouragement card for anyone who is lucky enough to recieve it.
Many of the things used in this project will be discontinued at the end of the Occasions Catalog and several of the colors are retiring. Check out the items and get them before they are gone!
I have some sweet, sweet favorites in the Occasions Catalog. I'm SO into mermaids and the sea at the moment--I'm sure it has to be because the winter of 2018 has lasted FAR too long! So this is just perfect for a little magical escape for me, or an adorable party theme for your little mermaid or knight! The stamp set includes a Wizard, a Night, a Unicorn and Dragon! HOW MAGICAL!
The Myths & Magic 6x6 Glimmer Paper is so beautiful in its glory of green and turquoise and for sparkly magic, iridescent! Ahhhh, I can't get enough!!! The Designer Series Paper has iridescent glittered designs on one side, and beautiful imagery on the other. The texture and thickness makes it great for party hats, banners or invitations! The Washi is sparkly and magical too! The framelits will cut out the stamps or some images in the Designer Series Paper.
Are you into the magical world of knights, dragons, unicorns & mermaids??
When Stampin' Up! announces the retiring list for the current catalogs, it can leave you feeling a little sad. But I have learned through the years, no matter what you are sad about losing, there is something MUCH better around the corner to be gained!! Don't be down, but DO BE smart! Take a look at what is leaving and order as soon as possible, those things you CANNOT live without. It might be the In-Color Reinkers, paper, or the ribbon that you will need to complete your latest project. Then enjoy the ride! There are some great 30th Anniversary Celebrations in the new 2019 Annual Catalog! You won't be disappointed.
Please use the Hostess Code: 633VGK7A
AND for every $150 I will choose a mystery hostess from everyone that orders $50 or more! If you order $150 by yourself, please don't use the hostess code and go ahead and claim your Stampin' rewards at the time of checkout.
This promotional period will go through April 27th, 2018. This is ONLY available through me, Tonya Dieterlen and at my online SU! website: www.tonyad.stampinup.net
Click on the button below to see everything that will be retiring May 31st.
Hello WonderBasement buddies!
It's been a hot minute, ahem, well maybe several months, ahem since I've been in the blogging business. I hope you've been well :) I've had several major events going on in my extended family and just couldn't get into any creative space, much less blog about it. Today, I think I broke through some of the fog and actually sat down just to play with a set I've had for several months. I think it is just so mesmerizing...Magical Mermaid. It's such a sweet understated stamp set with so many possibilities.
Coming out of a fog, I did some of my favorite kind of stamping: stamp in black ink and color with watercolor pencils, then blend with Wink of Stella in clear, all on simple white cardstock.
Oh, it sparkles and shines and is SO lovely! I'm not sure the pictures do it justice...and I took the picture after the sun went down (who is with me longing for LONG summer days and daylight into the evening hours?). So it is a little dark.
I literally used all kinds of colors and thought of each mermaid having her own markings on her tail. I used Calypso Coral, and Rich Razzelberry, then filled in with some Melon Mambo, and used the Bermuda Bay and Pacific Point blues, then for her hair, Daffodil Delight and Bermuda Bay, with a hint of Expresso. I just kept coloring and blending while I was coloring. The pencils blend so easily, layering one on top of the other. I love mixing colors, it's fun to see what new colors I can create. I did use the Lots of Happy Card Kit for the Lemon-Lime twist pencil. It's only available in this kit. (Seriously, it's a great card kit AND you get the additional pencils!) If you have any quesitons, let me know. My schedule is light due to extenuating circumstances. I would love to chat through FaceBook or instant messaging. Just shoot me a message :)
I hope you enjoy and GO and DO something for yourself. To get you in a happy frame of mind. Remeber, only YOU can choose to be happy.
There are a lot of cool things going on sale TOMORROW, November 20!! AND you don't want to miss out. Click HERE and start shopping!!! I mean, I don't mean to seem bossy, but I really don't want you to miss out on all these great deals. This post is short & sweet and too the point tonight. Part of the reason for brevity is what went down on Saturday during Open Studio! If you haven't seen video I posted on Saturday evening. Check it out on the FB page! I will also post the pdf of the Sale items. There is a 24 hour sale, then a separate sale for the rest of the week. Hostess code for this sale is: E6UVM9KC. It will close at the end of this 24 hour sale.
When you see the video, you'll understand why this post is a little shorter than usual...literally, I have achy arms, from my shoulder to my fingers. I am going to be doing some serious maintenance work to my TWO BigShot machines. They have gotten so much use over the years, I was having a *little* bit of trouble. However, by the end of the day, I had figured out my problem and was able to cut the last 20 snowflakes MUCH quicker and easier. This was operator neglect of a BigShot machine...and does NOT reflect the AWESOMENESS of this tool for your crafting needs!!!!
However, I must add, PLEASE CONSULT ME BEFORE YOU PURCHASE ITEMS TO MAKE 200 or more items in a paper project. My service as a demonstrator is free....USE IT :) Happy Thanksgiving WEEK!
Love & blessings,

I love a good rhyme, don't you? Even if it's simple. And this one reminds me of "Three Little Kittens who Lost their Mittens". I loved that book as a child, then as a mom. I love the idea of poetry and design going together flawlessly and in a way that, well, just works. And is memorable. And you love to see or hear or read over and over again. Well, all of this talk IS going somewhere! haha! The Smitten Mitten stamp set is just so sweet! And ALL the elements are fun to use to create lovely designs that are SO much fun to create.
I think I'm also in love with the Merry Moments Designer Series Paper. Black and Green and White. WHO would have thought it could convey such warmth and sophistication with color??? It's absolutely gorgeous by itself, then you can add a little bit of sparkle with ribbon or embellishment...and tada! GORGEOUS PLUS times a million. Really. That is not hyperbole. Well, maybe a little. However, you won't get tired creating 100's of cards for the season with this group of products. Take a look at what I came up with this afternoon.
Oh, by the way, BLENDS, the long-awaited alcohol markers are available on November 1! That's TOMORROW people!!!! Look for some fun ideas, and more details on the blog tomorrow.
love and sunshine and sparkly glitter,
I just love when you throw your scraps down on the table and genius strikes!! lol! Stampin' Up! colors and papers make it easy to create quickly. Literally, I just threw down this little church cut, from Hearts Come Home framelits. They are so adorable. I think it goes a little sophisticated when done in the black and white color scheme. I do LOVE the black & white tree paper. Yum! I love traditional Christmas colors, but I have to admit, it's refreshing to step outside of the proverbial box once in a while. And LOOK at the plaid mittens....you'll have to wait until tomorrow to see what I have in store for those "smitten" mittens!
Here is an example of how beautiful and simple the Wink of Stella pen is to use. The image "'tis the season" is stamped in black and then I painted the Wink of Stella inside the letters for maximum sparkle!
This is the whole finished card. With the lighting, you can't see the sparkles on the houses, but I assure you it's there, and beautiful!!
I'm planning on Christmas stamping on steriods this week, so stay tuned for some more fun ideas for YOUR Christmas greetings.
We are going to have a great time this evening! 3 projects ready to go. They happen to be all Christmas themed. The plaid card and the little basket was inspired by my friend & fellow Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Cheri Stojkovich. Thanks, Cheri!
The Hearts Come Home card was using, possibly my most favorite tool EVER! The Wink of Stella! It's clear and sparkly and makes everything more magical! It is so easy to add a sparkle here and a sparkle there, you can also cover up a multitude of mistakes. Glitter and sparkle fix almost every problem!! <<<<That should be a graphic t-shirt! haha!
Check out the cool products we are playing with below:
Here is a great unboxing video of exactly what is in the October Paper Pumpkin Kit. If you been following me for a while, you'll know of all things: I'm honest. I tell you like I see it. If I think something is sub-par, I will let you know. If I think something is SUPER-duper, FANTABULOUS and stinkin' amazing and cute....AND YOU NEED TO RUN, not walk or dilly-dally, you will know that, too!!
This kit, with all the hype SU! has had around it, TRUELY lives up to the expectations. It's ADORABLE, EASY and you are going to LOVE it!!!
SO, my advice this morning....because tomorrow will probably be too late...(remember, I am HONEST)
I'm going to be working on a variation of this kit if for some chance you don't need the cards and you'd prefer something different, like holiday table decor or home decor! Stay tuned to see what fun happens today.
If for some reason, this kit sells out today, don't despair!!! Sign up for the November kit RIGHT NOW!!! I'm confident it will be JUST as fabulous!!! Seriously, DO. IT. NOW. :)
These little ornaments came together pretty quick and I'm so GLAD to use up my supply of cork circles I purchased originally, for a wedding project. It's one of those things that has been stuck in the back of my crafting cabinet for a couple of years, and I always open the cabinet...and there they are staring at me. "What are you going to do with me?", they ask, like sassy little smartie-pants. I do what any good crafter does and ignore them, or look directly at them and threaten to give them a nice long toss into the trash!
I applied for a craft show this week. Over in Franklin, IN on November 11. I'll share more details out after I've heard back from the organizers. It's juried, which means they screen all the applicants. I hope to know more next week.
However, just sending in the paper work has motivated me to get all my "extra" raw materials out and play, create and MAKE something! I've been quite a raw material collector! *blush*
It's felt good to get everything out and challenge myself to create with what I already have at my fingertips. Ever since my snow globe discovery (here), I've been in what people in the "biz" call "flow"....hahahaha....that sounds so funny. But, there is some truth to creatives being "in the flow".
Some days it takes all I can do to spit out a simple card. Other days, I can produce new things, that leads to more new things, that leads to exciting new things. It's been a week of both. Talk about creative whiplash! I wanted to share some of the things I'm doing. I hope you are inspired to pull out your stash and PLAY a little. I wish you a weekend of being in the "flow" ofyour current project.
Here's some of the magic happening in the WonderBasement! Enjoy! Tonya
Such a versatile stamp set! It includes Halloween, Christmas, Hang in there, and Valentine's Day! Love, love, love how it's designed. Check it out!
Wonder if I could glitter a succulent? Hummm....
Seriously, I love succulents. I wasn't much into plants while the kids were little. I just couldn't give them the attention they needed while tending the children. And with boys, everything is a target for throwing a ball of some-sort, ultimately ALWAYS landing on something breakable and dirty...and I just didn't want to deal with the mess.
But now, I can't get enough! However, I'm kinda cheap. I live in the Midwest and we can't have succulents outside all year long, and they apparently don't get out to the local big-box stores very much. When they do, they are outrageously priced. So I have purchased 2 or 3 when I see special ones that I REALLY love. The rest I tend to pick up on clearance....the kind that no one else wants and that look just this side of the pearly gates! However, I have LOTS of patience. I am learning how to propagate and I've been successful in the first part, where you take off leaves and let them sit until little roots start growing. I'm still getting the hang of it.
I have great hopes of having a whole slew of the lovelies so I can make a living succulent wreath. I have my heart set on it. But I'm going to need A LOT. I maybe a couple of summers away, but I am determined! Do you know anything about succulents??? Do tell, any recommendations?
I made a little discovery this past week and I'm so excited to share with you! I was playing with the SU! treat tubes, filling them with fun treats and gifts. I put some glitter inside and was trying to figure out a way to drop some cute little sequins and shapes inside...and I had a brain blast?! What if I could make a snow globe, of sorts with the treat tube? Could it be done? Would I possibly have everything I need to create this masterpiece of creativity???
Okay, ya'll know if you have this great crafty idea, for you to actually have ALL the elements to make said idea is clearly a sign from above that YES, you are suppose to make this amazing little item. Oh, the joy of looking at online instructions to see all you need to create a snow globe is a waterproof container, water, glycerin or corn syrup and a way to seal the container. My brain was pumping and firing on ALL creative cylinders and...and...well, this!
Easy Peasy Directions: I filled the container up to about 1/4" away from the bottom of the cork stopper, then added 10 drops of glycerin, and SU!'s dazzling diamonds glitter. Look at that SPARKLE!!
Oh, then I thought what if I would add some ink to color the water??? 3 drops of Pool Party re-inker and BOOM! What a lovely shade of Caribbean blue! I sealed the cork with a little hot glue around the cork and pressed it into the top.
It was SO much fun to make. I plan on making these at several gift classes AND wouldn't this be cute for a little girl's mermaid party?! They make super cute ornaments, too.
I couldn't stop with just one! I made another with water tinted pink, then put some red seed beads and punched window sheets. I used the Seasonal Chums stamp set and sat the snowman on top of some White embossing paste and sprinkled it all with GLORIOUS dazzling diamonds glitter.
What has been your latest, greatest crafting creation??? Tomorrow I'll share a little video of these beauties in action!!! love, Tonya
