Hello, October! Hello, Harvest!

Happy October! If you are new to The WonderBasement, WELCOME!

I hope you are enjoying the gorgeous weather and the cool breeze that is blowing into the Midwest! Ahhh, it’s so refreshing. And the trees are beginning to change into the full glory of Autumn.

Here are the items I used to make this lovely autumn card for you, inspired by the season. I used a Basic Black card stock base and the Shimmery White Card Stock to stamp my images with Memento Black Ink.

The Autumn colors inspire my card creations. In the stamping world, these colors are so much fun to create with and share. I LOVE this pumpkin stamp & shape in the Hello Harvest bundle.

I paired it with some gorgeous specialty vellum, already sized in the perfect 3 3/4”x 5” size. It fits right over the 4”x 5 1/4” card front. Then I used the gorgeous Rustic Harvest Designer Series Paper for the under-layer of the card.

Below I show photos of each step of coloring them with the Stampin’Blends™Alcohol-based markers. I LOVE using these markers. The alcohol nature of the ink allows the colors to blend through the paper seamlessly, creating gorgeous depth and interest! Click on each picture so you can really see how the colors blend together!

I placed the photos in the order I colored them, l-r, t-b. If you notice, I wasn’t super careful to stay in the lines, you don’t have to because the vellum covers the details. In this card, you just want to see the colors underneath. That’s why I started with Sweet Sorbet. It’s a lighter version of Poppy Parade and gives the whole project some pop. I also wanted to have some light-to-dark contrast on the leaves. The black needs a little brightness to make it the base color and not become too visually heavy.

After I have applied the colors that I want, I always use a light color Blend to blend the colors. They blend effortlessly. It’s almost like magic!
